Prayers Requested for Five Men to be Ordained this Summer: There will be five men ordained this summer in the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall. Kevin Burgess, Marc Gaudet and Connor O’Hara will be ordained to the diaconate on August 10. Deacon Diego Rebeles (June 29) and Deacon Steven Gaudet (August 4) will be ordained to the priesthood. Due to pandemic restrictions, these diocesan celebrations will unfortunately be by invitation only. Please keep these men in your prayers as they continue to prepare for their ordination.

Pope establishes World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly: “I am with you always” (cf. Mt 28:20). Pope Francis has decided to institute a Church-wide celebration of a World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. The theme’s purpose is to convey the closeness of God and the Church to the elderly and also to emphasize the intergenerational closeness between the young and the elderly. Starting this year, the day will be held on the fourth Sunday of July (July 25, 2021), close to the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. Prayer for Vocations: 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time - July 4. That all men and women will answer the Lord with humble obedience when He calls them to serve His people as priests, deacons or in the consecrated life. 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time - July 11. That the call to serve Christ and His Church in the priesthood and consecrated life will fall on the rich soil of hearts prepared by prayer, hard work, and generous service to others. 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time - July 18. That the Lord of the Harvest will provide an abundance of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life in our diocese to help gather the wheat of souls into His barn. 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time - July 25. For a greater appreciation of the richness of every vocation to love Christ and that more men and women will respond to His invitation to follow Him as priests, deacons and consecrated religious. 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time – Aug. 1. That those called to help Christ feed the multitude as priests, deacons, sisters and brothers will not be held back by what they see as their limitations, but will rely on Jesus, and feed those to whom they are sent. 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time – Aug. 8. For all those called to priesthood and consecrated life that they will trust in Him and His choice of them. Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Aug. 15.
