Please keep him in your prayers in this time of transition. Thank Msgr. Léo for your outstanding work!

Fr. Sean Wenger CC: Thank you to Fr. Sean Wenger CC for his service to the Archdiocese in the role as Episcopal Vicar of English Pastoral Services. Fr. Sean’s passion for evangelization and building a missionary Church resonated clearly in his role working closely with Archbishop Damphousse, the Episcopal Council and with the Deans. May God bless you abundantly, Fr. Sean, as you leave the Archdiocese and embark on the next part of your journey.

Video Message from Archbishop for National Indigenous Peoples Day: A video from Archbishop Damphousse for National Indigenous Peoples Day is posted on our website at www.archoc.ca.

Novena and Act of Entrustment to Saint Joseph: Pope Francis proclaimed a “Year of St. Joseph” and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has prepared a novena for use in parishes and homes beginning Tuesday, June 22 and ending Wednesday June 30. The Act of Entrustment will take place on Thursday, July 1st. Texts are prepared in French and English. It is an opportune moment to entrust ourselves and our country to our patron Saint Joseph imploring his intercession for the welfare of the entire country, for the many needs of society, and to pray in particular for those who passed away due to COVID-19. I encourage parishes and families to take this opportunity to seek his intercession and protection. Link to the text: https://en.archoc.ca/year-of-st-joseph.

Prayer Intention for Parishes for June: For the children who died in the former Kamloops Indian Residential School and for all those impacted by this tragedy, that there may be healing founded on truth and that the Spirit will inspire our ongoing commitment to reconciliation. For this, we pray to the Lord.

From Archbishop Damphousse - Message of Condolence and Support for Muslim Community: On Sunday the 6th of June 2021, I was alarmed at the news of the premeditated truck attack on a Muslim family who were going about their normal lives. I was shocked by this act of violence and deeply troubled by the hate that motivated this senseless act. Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, bigotry or racism has no place in our society. I extend condolences to the family and their friends and to all the Muslim faithful in London, Ontario. I express my solidarity and support for the Muslim community in the National Capital Region who share in the grief. I condemn in the strongest terms this act of violence. Read the full message here.

We express our gratitude to all who will be assuming new responsibilities. They have responded to the needs of the Archdiocese with generous spirits. We ask the people in parishes where changes are taking place to thank the priests who will be completing their time in their parish and moving to other responsibilities and to warmly welcome their new pastoral leaders into their midst. FROM THE CCCB

CCCB Statement - Delegation to the Holy See: The Catholic Bishops in Canada have genuinely heard the sincere invitation to engage wholeheartedly with the past and are deeply committed to take truly meaningful active steps together with Indigenous Peoples in view of a future filled with greater respect and cooperation. The recent discovery of children’s remains at a burial site of a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia remind us of a tragic legacy still felt today. With the strong encouragement of Pope Francis, the Bishops of Canada have pledged true and deep commitment to renewing and strengthening relationships with Indigenous Peoples across the land. In recent years, regional and diocesan listening circles have taken place across the country in order to hear the stories from local Indigenous communities and their hopes for the future. Read more.

Catholics and Evangelicals in Canada - We are Neighbours: This is a resource created and released by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops – Evangelical Fellowship of Canada National Dialogue. The resource is a study-guided based on the 2016 CCCB text Our Evangelical Neighbours – A Catholic Reflection on Evangelical Christianity and the 2019 Evangelical Fellowship of Canada text entitled Our Roman Catholic Neighbours. This new Study Guide aims to harvest the fruits of both “Neighbour Papers” by inviting Catholics and Evangelicals to come together to form joint study groups. The guide includes study questions, suggested ice-breakers, ideas for considering common social action, and suggestions for building relationships through faith practice.
