Campaign for Conscience Rights Legislation in Ontario

Dear friends in Christ,
Conscience protection is needed more than ever! As you may be aware, the federal government recently expanded access to euthanasia and assisted suicide, making it available for many vulnerable people, including those who are not dying. This puts people with disabilities, including those whose sole qualifying diagnosis is mental health related, at risk of choosing euthanasia or assisted suicide at a low point in their lives.
This situation has caused great concern for all Christian physicians, nurses, and other health care workers including those of good conscience. No one should ever be forced to participate in ending the lives of their patients.
To assist our front line medical professionals, the Bishops of Ontario have launched an important campaign in support of establishing conscience rights legislation to protect physicians, nurses and other health care workers in Ontario. Archbishop Marcel Damphousse encourages all the faithful to engage in this important campaign. Please refer to his online letter on the Archdiocese of Ottawa website for more information and the link for sending automated letters to your local MPPs: Current Messages - Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall - Ottawa (archoc.ca). (Note: the campaign letter appears below the Archbishop's Easter Message)To directly access the website for sending automated letters to your local MPPs, please go to: Ontario | Canadians for Conscience (Note: to access the automated letter, scroll down the page where you will find the letter info boxes just below the Youtube information message video for Coalition for HealthCARE and Conscience )

Prayer to St. Joseph said during Mass: Glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph, whose power makes the impossible possible, come to my aid in these times of anguish and difficulty. Take under your protection the serious and troubling situations that I commend to you, that they may have a happy outcome (here state your request) My beloved father, all my trust is in you. Let it not be said that I invoked you in vain, and since you can do everything with Jesus and Mary, show me that your goodness is as great as a power. Amen.
