From Patricia MD about the Food Centre:

The Centretown Food Centre is the principal food bank for many in Central Ottawa and last year served over 800 people a month. Despite the pandemic, it is continuing to operate on a modified basis while respecting public health guidelines. We would ask you to consider supporting us again this year by walking on October 4th, and donating in one of the following ways:
- Online at the Walkathon webpage https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/centretown-churches-social-action-committee/p2p/Walkathon/
An income tax receipt will be emailed to you automatically.
- Send a cheque made out to CCSAC at 507 Bank Street, Ottawa K2P 1Z5, noting the cheque is for the Walk for the Centre. Please include your mail or email address so CCSAC can send you a tax receipt. Donations $20 and above will be provided a receipt, or upon request.

FROM THE HOLY SEE

Pope Francis signs Apostolic Letter on 16th Centenary of the Death of Saint Jerome: At the conclusion of his September 30 general audience, Pope Francis said, “Today I signed the apostolic letter Sacrae Scripturae Affectus, on the 16th centenary of the death of Saint Jerome. May the example of the great doctor and father of the Church, who placed the Bible at the center of his life, inspire in everyone a renewed love for the Sacred Scripture and the desire to live in personal dialogue with the Word of God.”

GOVERNMENT OF ONTARIO COVID-19 UPDATE

As you may have heard on the News, the Government of Ontario has revised its position in a few areas over concerns of COVID-19. Ottawa is one such area. However, the reduction in the number of persons being able to gather at public or private events, DOES NOT AFFECT RELIGIOUS CELEBRATIONS. That is to say.... we are able to continue with the protocols (Wearing of Masks, Hand Sanitizer, Sterilization of space, Social Distancing, etc.) that are currently being enforced within the Archdiocese of Ottawa in fully compliance with the Ottawa Public Health Authority. We here at St. Theresa Parish, have as a capacity at 30%, which is space for over 100 people at any given celebration.

Also please note ...
Cardinal Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for the Discipline of the Sacraments, has issued a letter to all Bishops around the world and of which, our Archbishop, Terrence Prendergast, SJ, has sent to the Archdiocese regarding the necessity to "RETURN WITH JOY TO THE EUCHARIST".

Novena For Life - for an end to abortion and euthanasia

St. Theresa parishioners are invited to pray the following Novena For Life each day from September 23 to October 1, the feast day of St. Theresa of Lisieux:

A Prayer for Life by John Paul II
O Mary, bright dawn of the new world,

Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life

Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy.

Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time.

Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.

Prayer to make Spiritual Communion:

People who cannot communicate make spiritual communion:

At your feet, O my Jesus I bow down and offer you the repentance of my contrite heart, which abysses itself into its nothingness and Your holy presence. I adore you in the Sacrament of Your love, the ineffable Eucharist. I wish to receive you in the poor home that my heart offers you. In anticipation of the happiness of sacramental communion, I want to possess you in spirit. Come to me, oh my Jesus, that I may come to you. May Your love inflame my whole being, for life and death. I believe in you, I hope in you, I love you. So be it. Amen

Perpetual NOVENA Prayer to St. Theresa Little Flower:

O Little Therese of the Child Jesus, Please pick for me a rose, from the heavenly garden and send it to me, as a message of love. O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God to grant the favors I now place with confidence in you hands ( mention your special prayer request here ) St. Therese, help me to always believe, as you did, in God's great love for me, so that I may imitate your "Little Way" each day. Amen ( Say 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and 1 Glory Be each day)
